Definition: The production of acids in the bowel from undigested foods which begin to ferment and cause the build up of gas in the intestines.
Typical Complaints: Abdominal bloating, pain, wind, gas, flatulence, heartburn, reflux.
Candida relationship: When Candida becomes systemic (it buries through the gut wall and enters the blood stream) it leaves tiny holes in the gut wall which then allow product from the bowel into the blood stream. This is what doctors call gut dysbiosis. Undigested particles of food which are normally eliminated in the feces pass through the holes and get absorbed into the system causing severe digestive distress. Contributing factors include abnormal intestinal flora (Candida), food intolerances, stress, drugs, alcohol and sugar consumption.
Once the Candida has been eradicated wind will cease to be a problem. You will be able to eat all foods without a resulting build up of wind.
The Healing Process: As well as determining which foods are causing problems (see Food Intolerance Test), you must eradicate the overgrowth of Candida and replenish the good bacteria in order to restore normal bowel function. This is done by following our Candida Program. During the program the body will naturally heal the gut wall by restoring the integrity of the mucous membranes which have been compromised by the presence of Candida. Once this happens excessive wind will cease to be a problem.
