Definition of IBS:
IBS is a painful inflammatory intestinal condition with twice as many women sufferers as men. It affects the large intestine where muscular contractions of the intestine are irregular and uncoordinated, and this interferes with the movement of waste material through the bowel.
The result is a build up of excess mucus and of toxins in the bowels and bloodstream
Typical Complaints:
Bloating, diarrhoea, constipation, excessive wind, spasm and pain in the bowel, incomplete evacuation of the bowel, loose bowel movements.
The Candida relationship to IBS:
When an overgrowth of the fungus Candida is present in the bowel it disrupts the normal balance of vital bacterium and thus impairs bowel function, leading to the unpleasant side effects of IBS. This makes the gut far more sensitive to certain foods and substances and food intolerances become commonplace. As well as determining which foods are causing problems (food intolerance test), you need to irradicate the overgrowth of Candida to restore normal bowel function.
What You Can Do:
In order to stop the debilitating symptoms of IBS you need to rid the bowel of Candida and then replenish the gut with a healthy balance of good bacteria.
At the same time you need to heal the gut wall by restoring the integrity of the mucus membranes which have been compromised by the presence of Candida. Once this happens your IBS should cease to be a problem completely.
