Definition: A disturbance in the part of the brain that governs mood, resulting in swinging between opposites in moods
Typical Complaints: Feeling down followed by feeling good, lethargy followed by hyperactivity, short temper, aggressive behaviour, moody, sleep disorders, lack of sex drive, a short fuse.
Candida relationship: When Candida becomes systemic (it buries through the gut wall and enters the blood stream) it leaves tiny holes in the gut wall which then allow product from the bowel into the blood stream. This is what doctors call gut disbiosis. This sets our body’s alarm bells ringing as product from the bowel has entered the sterile environment of the blood stream and the risk of contamination becomes the primary focus The holes allow tiny food particles from the intestines to pass into the blood which can produce food sensitivities, which in turn provoke an inflammatory response in the body. As this fungus circulates in the bloodstream it causes disruption to normal bodily balance and function. One of those symptoms is a short term memory loss. Moods can also be dictated by blood sugar fluctuations and when you have an overgrowth of Candida your moods can be seriously affected. Yeasts including Candida feed on sugar. If the body’s PH balance is upset, the friendly bacteria that normally metabolize sugars cannot thrive and do their job properly, and Candida continues to thrive in this sugar rich environment. This constant disruption of blood sugar balance causes mood swings.
If the gut problem were eradicated the mood would become more stable.
Healing: Once the Candida is killed off in the gut and the blood stream by undertaking our Candida Programme, the body’s systems can return to normal function. Blood sugar levels become stable and regain their delicate balance, thus moods become more balanced and even.
