Definition: Inflammation of the nasal sinuses. The sinuses are air filled pockets in the skull that are connected to the nose and throat by passages designed to drain away mucus. They are the first line of defense in protecting the lungs against infection. There are sinuses located above the eyes, to either side of the nose, inside the cheekbones, behind the bridge of the nose, and in the upper nose.
Typical Complaints: Inflammation of the sinuses leads to pain. Fever can be present. Earache, headache, toothache, facial pain, cranial pressure, difficulty breathing through the nose, loss of sense of smell, tenderness over the forehead and cheekbones. Excess mucus may be formed, and postnasal drip may cause a sore throat, nausea and bad breath. Difficulty breathing may cause snoring and loss of sleep. Allergic Sinusitis may be caused by hayfever or food allergies.
Candida relationship: When Candida becomes systemic (it buries through the gut wall and enters the blood stream) it leaves tiny holes in the gut wall which then allow product from the bowel into the blood stream. This is what doctors call gut disbiosis. This sets our body’s alarm bells ringing as product from the bowel has entered the sterile environment of the blood stream and the risk of contamination becomes the primary focus. In addition to this emergency, the holes also allow tiny food particles from the intestines to pass into the blood which we know can produce food sensitivities, which in turn provoke an inflammatory response in the body. This response engages the body’s policing system into ridding the offending antigens. Whilst our body continually fights off invading debris and food particles from the bowel it is unable to fend off or deal with any other infection or inflammatory response the body may encounter such as Sinusitis.
Healing: First we must eradicate Candida from the gut and the blood stream. Once this has been achieved through our Candida Program we then begin to heal the gut wall. This will cease the continual leaking of product and fungus from the bowel into the blood which compromises the immune system rendering it unable to deal with any other infections or inflammatory responses such as those associated with Sinusitis. Once the intergrity of the gut is restored the immune system is able once again to deal effectively with infections and help prevent any such infections in the future.
